On this most holy of nights in the Christian year, the church keeps watch, celebrating the resurrection of Christ in the sacrament of Holy Eucharist, and awaiting his return in glory. The Easter Vigil is the climactic turning point of the Triduum, the Passover of the new covenant, and marks our Lord’s passage from death to life in the resurrection. It is the liturgical summit of the Christian year.
